Halloween Cake Pops

I decided for Halloween that I would make cake pops for both of my girls classes.  For some reason I had a really difficult time this time.  My candies would not melt correctly.  I added some shortening like Bakerella suggests in her book and then the melted candy would not adhere to my pops...I was very frustrated.  I had added the Wilton candy coloring and that may have had something to do with it not melting correctly but I do not know.

To bring the cake pops to class I reused their McDonalds buckets and glued styrofoam to the bottom.

The ribbon I used on the handle was purchased at the 99 cent store.

Anyway...here is the end result:
These are for my oldest daughters class...

My Creative Time design team

Well, this is the very first Design Team that I have ever tried out for.  I have enjoyed Emma's blog for a while now and to be apart of "My Creative Time" design team would be such an honor.  I had a hard time trying to figure out what type of project that I wanted to do.  After much consideration here is my entry to become part of Emma's design team...

Hi everyone...

So sorry that I have not posted anything in such a long time.  The end of the school year was so hectic with both of my girls.  I have had a lot of personal stuff going on too that has had me beyond stressed out so I have not been feeling too creative.  I did not even do my end of the year gift that I had planned to make for both of my girls' teachers.  I was even making something for a past teacher that I found out was retiring...she was a truly amazing teacher.  I am hoping to still make their gifts and take them by their homes.  Things are getting better so hopefully I will get back into the creative swing of things.

A friend is trying to get me in my creative mood and got me a bunch of goodies at Michaels and I can't wait to use it all.  She got me some new pens, colored stamp pads, metallic stamp pads, some flower embellishments, and other cool stuff.  She also got me some cake pop supplies so I am thinking that I need to make a new batch.  They are fun to make but time consuming.

Here's to getting back into the creative swing of things....

my first attempt at Cake Pops...

Here is my first attempt at making "Cake Pops"...
The one thing I learned with the first set is to only use ONE color of candy melts...LOL      I used way too many colors of candy melts and way too many toppings...

Here is my second attempt....I made this for a friend who is doing a fundraiser for her MS Walk...

My Pink Stamper feathered friend challenge...

This is what I came up with for Robyns challenge...
I did question myself on whether or not these cute creatures had feathers...plus I noticed that nobody had done one of these feathered friends yet...
Yes, penguins do have feathers. They are shiny and uniformly overlap to form a dense layer of protection. A Penguin's feathers are highly specialized, They are short, broad, and spaced very closely. These attributes help to keep water away from their skin. Penguin feathers also have small tufts of down on the shafts that increase the insulative properties of the feathers.
  • card is 6 1/2 x 5
  • cut black card stock at 1/4" less
  • the white card stock is opalescent but it is hard to see...it was cut to fit the Cuttlebug folder...
  • the penguin was cut at 3"
  • I added a bow with some scrap ribbon that I had
  • the "just chillin" was cute at about 1 1/2" (I think) and I adhered it to a piece of something that I cut out a while ago that was in my scrap pile
  • the blue sparkle ribbon was purchased at Michaels during Valentine's Day
I sure hope y'all like this one...I had fun making it

quick Tinker Bell card...

I made this card for a neighbor as a thank you because she always lets my girls go and play at her house...
by the way...she loves Tinker Bell...

Birdie card...

Field Trip scrapbook page

I had so much fun doing this page...My daughters Kindergarten teacher sent home a picture of her from a field trip to the pumpkin patch that I was not able to go on and I created this scrapbook page...
I had so much fun on this page...

I used the Stretch Your Imagination cart for the school bus...
I forgot what I cut it at...
I used pieces of cotton ball with Smooch Spritz on them to make them sort of grey looking
I used some brads for the rims...

I love these pumpkins...The stretched one was a challenge to make with the dark orange overlay.
I used hot fix crystals for the eyes (black & orange)
I drew the mouth on the stretched out pumpkins
